Exhibitor Spotlight: Isle of Raasay Distillery
Exhibitor Spotlight: Isle of Raasay Distillery
First opening it’s doors in 2017, the Isle of Raasay Distilley’s founding is one steeped in history, taking up residence in the island’s 19th century Borodale House and transforming it into a state of the art distillery/visitor centre/luxury accommodation, whilst also being the island’s first ever legal distilling enterprise.
Taking inspiration from older styles of Hebridean single malts since lost to the ages, namely: lightly peated spirit balanced with notes of rich dark fruits, a style which would go on to form the basis of Raasay’s signature flavour profile.
Making a conscious effort to integrate with the island’s tight-knit community has been a big focus for the distillery and along the way they’ve been working closely with local businesses, creating job opportunities on the island, and as a core tenet of the distillery’s ethos, they endeavour to create, mature, bottle and market every drop of liquid on the island itself.
We’ve been keenly following Raasay’s journey since their 'While We Wait' expression first launched several years ago, and are tremendously excited for all of you inquisitive CASCers to sample their scintillating island delights at this year’s Whisky Mash!
